Thanksgiving just came and went and before anyone had a chance to get seconds, we were already on to the crazy of Christmas. To be honest, Christmas talk started way back in October but it’s definitely in full swing now. It’s easy to get caught up too. All we hear about are sales and how much money you can save to get all the things. The shopping sprees launch into full effect.
While most of us tend to get a little caught up in it all, I wanted to take a minute to focus on a few simpler things. When it all gets overwhelming, come back to this post and be reminded of all the great things in life that are beautiful and absolutely free. It’s great to get and love that new bag or shoes – or whatever it is you want. It’s also a great idea to balance that with the grounding truth that so much goodness is available to us at no cost.
Money Can’t Buy…
- The peace meditation brings
- The feel-good vibes of a jam session of music from your youth. Bonus points if it’s 90s R&B
- Doing an in-home pedicure
- The calm of coloring
- The joy of running into an old friend unexpectedly
- Calling a friend you need to catch up with
- Even better, having friends over for a girls’ night in
- The comfort of watching holiday movies
- Waking up in time to see the sunrise or enjoying the sunset
- Cuddling up with a good book (my favorite)
- Having a museum day (there are a few free options near me)
- Taking a stroll through a park
- Taking a nap
- Looking at old photos
- Netflix binge (I loved Lupin, High on the Hog, Stamped from the Beginning)
