Trouble sleeping, eating just to have something to do and being sad all out of the blue. I have to admit, my feelings have run the gamut over the last six months. I’ve had my moments where I wake up feeling heavy when there is nothing wrong. Then I remind myself that something is wrong. A whole lot of things are very wrong. In those moments it can be hard to remember that there is still good out there and things making me smile.
When I think about it, there are a few things that have been making me smile these days. I’m trying to keep my energy moving in that direction. They say that what we focus on grows, so I’ll be focusing on things that make me reveal my pearly whites.
The Smile List
- Music – I can easily get lost in the music. It puts me in my happy place. I’ve been getting my fix from Club Quarantine with D-Nice and my own curated playlists. Verzus is also good for a music fix! I’m loving the impromptu dance parties I’m having and full on concerts my family is being treated to because I’m all in my feelings with a good playlist.
- Starting something new – Over this quarantine period, I decided to do something I had been putting off for awhile. I launched a whole new site and I revamped this one. Digging into a new project always makes me happy. I love getting my creative vibes going and feeling inspired.
- Conversations with my kids – Like parents all over these days, we’ve been spending a ton of time with our kids lately. It’s been such a blessing. My kids have gotten closer to each other. When you don’t have all of your friends to play with you really lean on each other. I’ve been spending a lot more time just talking to them too. It’s always cool to know what’s on their minds and what questions they have. We have been having the most thoughtful talks and I am so proud of the little people they’re becoming.
- Brewing a fresh cup of morning tea – I’ve always made my morning tea but since I don’t make Starbucks runs these days, I’ve been getting creative and making yummy tea lattes!
- Catching up on Zoom – Whether it’s meeting up with friend for a catch up sesh or chatting with family spread across the country – the Zoom meetings have been keeping us close and keeping a smile on my face.
I hope there’s a few things putting a smile on your face these days.
