In this blogging world you “meet” some very cool people. From all we share on our blog, you can begin to feel like you know people pretty well. Then, of course, there’s always more to learn! When I saw this link up for :Ask Away Friday” on Tamara’s blog, I just had to join in! It’s a great way to get to know more about some of your favorite bloggers! So today, I’m swapping questions with one of my favorite bloggers Tamara of Tamara like Camera!

tamcam

She’s a mom and a photographer who is in LOVE with her family in a mushy, sentimental, I-could-stare-at-my-children-all-day-cause-I-love-them-so-much kind of way that I totally get!! I love reading her blog because I feel like I get to see a piece of her heart in each post.

You’ll learn a little bit more about me as I’ve got ten questions from her to spill my guts in this space. Ready? Let’s go!

1. Ok, I have to talk about Halloween since it’s this week. Are you dressing up? Just the kids? All of you with a theme? I love hearing about this.
My husband and I aren’t huge into Halloween. We didn’t really give it much thought until we had kids.  For me, I think it stems from my childhood. My mother wasn’t big on Halloween, but I dressed up and did the parties and the trick or treating as a kid. Now I’m the same way. My kids get involved and hit up the pumpkin patch and parties and go trick or treating but my husband and I are on the side lines living it through them and taking lots of pictures!

2. If you hadn’t gone into television, what do you think you’d be doing for work?
Great question! It’s hard to think of me not going into television. I’ve always been interested in entertainment and had to be a  part of it in some capacity. Maybe, I would have gone into Public Relations? I used to be really into that. I still would have migrated to TV, I think by working in PR for a network. Ha! Funny thing is, I originally majored in Business and wanted to be an accountant.
3. What was your first job ever?
My first job ever was a cashier at CVS pharmacy. My mother had given me a car for my 16th birthday and I was required to work to keep gas in it and maintain oil changes. I remember that car well. She got it from a friend and it was like a 1984 Pontiac. I remember that if I went over 50 miles it would shake like crazy. I thought for sure that my mother had done that on purpose so I couldn’t speed!
4. Here is a three part movie question. Name one of your favorite movies. And then name who you would want to play you in a movie of your life. Also, name a song from the soundtrack of the movie of your life! (Was it cheating to ask you three questions in one?)

My favorite movie is The Color Purple. It’s been a favorite for years. I love that it touches on every emotion! I can pretty much act out any scene from that movie as I’ve memorized EVERY line. I was the play as well and played the soundtrack for months until my husband BEGGED me to give it a rest. I might need to go ahead and pull that out again…
In a movie of my life, I would say I’d like Kerry Washington to play me. She’s such a versatile actress. I think she’d do me justice. She is much shorter than me though so she’d need to “act” tall! (I’m 6’1″)
A song from the soundtrack of the movie of my life… hard question.
5. How did you come into blogging, and how did you think up your title? I sort of remember when we “met” in the blogging realm, and I remember loving your blogging name and thinking, “I want to come back here.”
I’m glad you like the name! I took forever to come up with a name. Once I knew I was going to start this blog I brainstormed names forever. I remember being on the phone with my friend and shouting out Bibs  & Baubles. She was all, “Bibs & what?” I knew I wanted a name that incorporated my babies and style in some capacity. I used to blog more about style and my love of fashion. I plan to do that more.
6. I think it’s almost inevitable in your career field, but have you ever met a famous person? And since I already think I know the answer, who was your favorite?
I have met several famous people. They are everywhere around here. I just bumped into Ashton Kutcher at a gas station. I used to see Cuba Gooding, Jr. or Ryan Seacrest in the elevator at work almost weekly. It’s hard to say who my favorite would be. I lean toward meeting Kimora though. She’s everything you’d expect her to be. She’s totally over the top with a big personality. I like that she’s one woman I can make eye contact with. We’re the same height and I don’t meet many women my height. 🙂
Kimora-Lee-Simmons17. Tell me the quality you most admire about your dad.
My dad is pretty darn cool. He’s got a love of style and love to look good. His love of the finer things was definitely passed down to me. Now I just have to find ways to afford the finer things! 🙂 A quality I’ve gotten to see more of in my dad is his heart for family. He tries to take care of everyone. He’s the middle child and is constantly  making sure his older sister and younger brother have what they need and make doctor’s appointments, etc. I’ve had to remind him about his own needs and taking care of himself because sometimes I think he’s so busy with everyone else that he let’s himself slide.
Also, if you didn’t know, he’s a fancy dancer!

8. Since you have worked in television for so long, I’m curious to know  your three favorite TV shows, past or present.
I used to absolutely love Three’s Company! I’m sure I didn’t get many of the references when I was little but I was glued to that show.
The Cosby Show totally changed the way I thought about what I could have and achieve.
A Different World, convinced me to attend a Historically Black University. The college experience on that show was so much like my college experience and I loved it.
Another favorite was Mad About You and Will & Grace. You said three, huh?
9. What language would you like to master?
I used to be pretty good in Spanish when I was in college. I haven’t kept up with it at all. I want my kids to learn it so, I”ll be brushing up on it very soon. Rosetta Stone, anyone?
10. If you could project yourself into the past, where would you go?
I really can’t think of anywhere I would go. There’s not a whole lot in the past that I’d like to re-live or experience. Odd, huh?

  1. Not odd at all! Not sure I’d project myself into the past either. Maybe just to say hi or bye or give a hug or something.
I love The Color Purple so much. It’s one of the few movies based on books, in which I like the book better! And the part about you thinking your mom gave you a car that shakes on purpose – I laughed out loud. I had the same experience!
Thank you so much for participating with me. I LOVE your questions for me and I feel like you gave me a much better post than I would have had.

  2. How cool that you’ve met some celebrities, Cam! Kimora really must have been awesome to meet. She definitely has a big personality.

I loved Three’s Company too! I really mourned when John Ritter died a few years ago. He was such a comedian.

I had to laugh at you in the car that would shimmy and shake over 50 mph. Perhaps your mom did have it in mind to keep you under the speed limit!

    Have a great weekend, Cam.

  3. So COOL!! You are so awesome, it was great getting to know you. Ashton Kutchners hometown isn’t to far from me and I never bump into him, DANG lol. Oh and Three’s Company is my all time favorite, I could watch marathons of that show.

  4. I absolutely loved the Cosby show when I was growing up. My favorite comedy of all time is Bill Cosby himself. It’s downright ridiculous and I love it.
PR is such an amazing field but incredibly volatile and incredibly competitive. In school I TA’d for a Communications teacher who ran a PR firm and it was crazy how much he had to do in a day!

Great getting to know about you!

  5. I didn’t do Halloween either as a kid, now since it is almost always cold and rainy here, we don’t generally do the door to door thing, but if weather permits we will hit our local zoo to trick or treat. However we normally bake cookies for the evening and the kids sit an pig out on them. 🙂 Your dad cuts quite a rug there! Love it! I loved Three’s Company as a kid, John Ritter was amazing! So wonderful getting to know you! Have a great week!
