My birthday was last Thursday. I hadn’t planned anything to celebrate and every time my husband asked me what I wanted to do my answer was the same. Nothing. There was nothing I could think of, outside of a vacation, that I really wanted to do. I had been talking for months about getting a nice DSLR camera and my husband made that happen the day before my birthday. Love him!
That being said, my birthday weekend still ended up being back to back, non-stop action!
On Friday, we went to the zoo for a field trip with my son’s class. It was so much fun. He had a ball! He really loved the alligator, gorilla and flamingo. When we sat down for lunch, we had a great view of the giraffes and he talked about them all through lunch! I love seeing the world again through his eyes.
The next day, we had lunch with my husband’s godparents. They wanted to get in on celebrating my born day. They are super sweet. That evening, after the little man’s nap, we headed to the fair. My friend and neighbor had hooked us up with tickets and parking vouchers. Sweet! By the time we got there, it was time to eat. We sat down and had a bite while taking in the sights. Then we headed into the barn for more animals! My son was in heaven. It was so funny watching him watch and mock the chickens! He kept bobbing his head like a chicken.
Needless to say, we were all tuckered out by Sunday. After church, me and baby boy went down for a much needed nap. The BEST part of my birthday happened on my birthday when I was least expecting it. My husband was getting our son ready for bed. I went in to give the little man a kiss. After I kissed him, he looked at me and said “I love you”. My heart melted. I could not have been smiling bigger. That was the first time he’d told me all on his own and he decided to do it on my birthday. What more could a mom ask for?
Awww… this is SO sweet! I love to hear good news and see such sweet pictures. How awesome is it that your husband got you that camera. Aint love beautiful?! And it’s so fun to do things with the little ones — so fun to see the world through their eyes. So glad to hear that you had a great bday weekend.

A happy happy birthday to you!!! I wish I had a hubby like yours 🙂 Time to put that camera to good use now 🙂
Cam,
The pictures are great and you had one of the BEST birthday!! I remember when Shelly said I love you mom and the day my grandchildren did also. They are such a blessing and I can tell you are loving every moment of it and I can tell you are good mother! Bless you!!
A good camera is a good investment since you are going to be snapping pictures of your son the rest of his life. I remember when Jonathan turned one years old I had taken over 300 pictures. Now I don’t take as many but every occasion so that we can capture the memories and I also post some when I am doing my family history tree. I love reading your blog. 🙂
So sweet! Still trying to get P to say mommy! I got a new camera too! Not as nice as your but better than my old one!
