Having been at this blog thing for the last two years I have noticed a trend. Lots of bloggers eventually become entrepreneurs. It’s like it’s in the rule book. It makes total sense too. Having started this blog I totally get how the spark for starting a business could ignite.
I stayed up many nights thinking of what I wanted to talk about, what my blog title should be, how I wanted to launch my blog, when I wanted to launch. I put in so much time learning how to connect hosting to my domain name, installing plug ins, all of the in’s and out’s of creating a blog. This blog became my night job. Still is. From the beginning, I treated it like a passion project. Without noticing, I also treated it like a business.
My guess is many other people went about building their site the same way. It’s as if getting one thing off the ground makes you wonder if there are more things you can build, be, create. I’ve seen photography, graphic design and writing businesses spring up. There are many others. I’m not shocked at all. I really feel like the blogger and the entrepreneur are the same person.
The blog is just like dipping your toe in the waters before taking the dive. What do you think? Have you seen this trend? Are you a part of the trend? Did you dive into the world of entrepreneurs?
I tried to resist this trend, because I didn’t see how I would have the time. But opportunities and just a passion for talking photos overwhelmed my resistance, and now I’m moving forward. Slowly. But I’m doing it!
I won’t do it with my personal blog. I want to stay neutral on all things and be able to speak without offending or speak without having to worry about sponsors or ads saying something. I have started the magazine and I hope to get into making that a business on there but it took me 2 years to see numbers on my Saywhatuwanna I am expecting the same amount of time to see growth with Kokoa patience is not my friend.

I’m so with you! There’s just no way around it, it seems (becoming an entrepreneur by way of blogging).

I run my blog like a business and constantly thinking how I can use it to make money. At least we can all say it’s a job that we love!

i don’t know if i have the time or patients to turn my blog into money. I really don’t like feeling like I HAVE to do things with my blog. I do it because I enjoy it and never want it to become work.

You know what… My blog is both my business and passion. At first, I did not realize it could be both but, I have since had a mind shift. At first I would say “I blog on the side” or “my little blog” but, words are power. Once I changed my mindset other things started to follow. I did however start a “consulting” aspect of my business soon after. I refer to my blog as the “internet marketing” side.

I think of my blog as a business but I haven’t had much luck turning into a income generating business, LOL! I have big dreams for it but I’m still pretty clueless as to how to get started monetizing. I love writing and running my blog and I’m hoping it turns into something more for me.

OH heck no, when I started my blog I had absolutely NO intention of ever having it as a business, hence the name. But it is what it is, lol. I wish I had thought it out like you!

I have to admit that blogging does open up a lot of doors- not only to friendships but also to money. I guess we can explore what’s out there for us, while being true to ourselves.

I’m trying to take advantage of the opportunities because there are plenty. I am definitely onbthe band wagon. In a way the blog helps because you already have a following when you branch out
