The weekends are too short. There’s no way around that. It’s like the minute you settle into it and start to relax – it’s over. I’m all for the four-day work week and three-day weekends. Who do I need to talk to to make that happen? Do we need a petition? Once Sunday comes around it’s like a mad dash to the new week.

For me, that looks like rounding up laundry, locking down a meal plan for lunch and dinner, and setting my calendar for the week ahead. The thing is, I don’t ever feel like I really just ease into the week like I want to. It feels like I’m prepping up until the last minute before I crash to read a book before I go to sleep. There has to be a better way, right?

There are so many people online showing their reset where they are doing a light cleaning of their home, restocking their fridge, and tidying up. I realized that I am not even close to being there yet. Or maybe I am, in my own way. The whole idea of the Sunday reset is to have you feeling calmer and less stressed about the week ahead because you’ve done some things to prepare yourself for it. I have to say, when I look at it that way, I’m doing better than I was giving myself credit for.

While my reset isn’t Instagram or TikTok pretty, it is my way of prepping my week by as many things out of the way as possible. It takes the potential for overwhelm during the week down a notch. It allows me to be more focused and productive. So how can you set up your own Sunday reset?

Sunday Reset in 4 Steps

First, declutter. Just tidy up around the common rooms of the house. For me that could look like folding up the throw blanket of the sofa and fixing the pillows. That could also include clearing the tables of anything my kids have left that they need to take to their rooms.

Then create a schedule for your week. I have been pretty good about using my planner this year. I usually only schedule things on my phone but writing things down has been helpful. I tend to include more details when I write things down.

You can set a timer for how long this takes you. I like to make sure I’m done with my prep work in enough time to sit down and read a book for a bit. What can I say, I’m such a book nerd! Some people set a 15 minute timer to get it all done. I’ve been known to have Alexa set a timer if my kids are moving to slow to get stuff done. The timer is a motivator for them. I say whatever works for you.

Getting the whole family involved is a must. Having my kids and husband do their part to prep for the week makes it all go faster. When everyone jumps in and takes a room we cruise through this.

Do you do a Sunday reset? What does that look like for you?

  1. Camesha, I completely relate to your thoughts about weekends being too short. Your Sunday reset routine makes a lot of sense. It’s not about being Instagram-worthy but about preparing for the week ahead, reducing potential stress, and staying productive. Involving the whole family is a great tip!
