Father’s Day 2011 was a beautiful day. I had the opportunity of sharing the day with a few very special daddies. Two of whom are VERY special to me. My daddy and my husband. While my dad is on the other side of the country, we shared some mommy/daddy time on the phone. The highlight of his day was hearing my son say “Hi Papa. Happy Father’s Day.” I’m sure he’s STILL beaming with pride over that one.
My husband and I had dinner with is godparents. They are like our surrogate parents as we both live away from our families. It was a great day to reflect on the relationship my husband has with our son. He is such a proud papa and our son is in LOVE with his daddy. When he wakes up in the morning, he used to sit in his bed and call “mommy”. Lately he’s changed that tune and when he wakes, he sits up in his bed and quietly says, “daddy”. That makes me smile. It’s just proof of what I’ve said since he was born. My husband is an amazing father. He puts in quality time with our son and it shows. Our baby boy’s allegiance switches between the two of us but, I know as he grows into a young man it’ll be his dad that he turns to. I’m so happy he has that and I look forward to watching their relationship flourish. Their bond is so special. I couldn’t have asked for a better father for our son. Happy Father’s Day sweetheart! We love you!
YAY for great men who are great fathers!
They’re pretty awesome!
That’s a bummer you live so far away from your parents but it sounds like you were still able to enjoy a nice Father’s Day.
