I can tell you the last time I had spaghetti, the last time I wore my favorite jeans and the last time I said I love you. What I can’t tell you is when was I last did something for the first time. In my efforts to continue to be the best version of me possible I am looking forward to a lot of firsts that are just about me. All of this self-reflection is where the 40 before 40 list was hatched. I am continuing to compile a list of things I look forward to trying. So far the list is pretty short. I didn’t realize how much pressure I’d feel when I started. I really should have set out for 10 before 40. So much easier. One of the things on my list is to take a dance class. I wanna dance like this:
Don’t laugh. For real, stop laughing. It’s so not cool to laugh at the goals of others. Sheesh! Well, I’ve taken the first step to make that happen. I bought yet another deal, this time for a dance class. In no time I will be jamming in tune, step by step, screaming “we run this mutha!” Well, that’s what I envision happening anyway. I have no problem demanding a refund if they have me doing some lame crap like this:
My question for you is when was the last time you did something for the first time?
The list of things you want to do for yourself is really, really hard. You think at first it will be easy to put together but then when you did it is so difficult. Good luck and I hope you accomplish everything you set out to do.
you’re so right. i thought, 40 before 40… easy peasy. not so much!
There is so many first I still need to have. I’m feeling the pressure now that I’m in my 30’s! Good for you on making goals and setting out to do them!
two words for you : do it! 🙂
Good luck! Can’t wait to hear how the dance class goes. I have a lot of new firsts living in NYC. I try to do something I normally wouldn’t do every once in a while to make myself feel a little bit more adventurous!
let’s hope i don’t make a complete fool of myself!
A little girl who came into my life as a shy five year-old will be graduating high school tomorrow, and I get to be there. Sniff!
wow! crazy how time flies!
Great post! We went on a family road trip for the first time this holiday weekend. It was awesome! Great memories. 🙂
we’ll be taking our road trip to the midwest this summer – via airplane. should be interesting with our walking, talking, running, can’t sit still toddler. Yeah, pray for us!
If you learn the locomotion, I think you should get it on video:p
i think that should be my next goal. to not only learn the locomotion but, to learn it from the lady in the video!
Gah I love Beyonce! She is so amazing!
Good luck with dance class!!! You will be great!
Me? I gave up dancing YEARS ago-I only dance when wasted. 🙂
I know… If I didn’t like her, I’d hate her! 🙂 I have been practicing at home. Not EVEN at a level where I would show my husband, let alone anyone else. It’s my new obsession though!
