It’s Oprah’s birthday. I’m in an airplane, flying to Florida to join her for a cruise. I can’t even believe I just wrote that sentence. But it’s true. I’m joining Oprah and Gayle for the girlfriends getaway cruise on Holland America. It’s a sold out cruise and I’m beyond excited to be a part of it.
I almost said no
I almost said no to even going on this trip. I was worried about who would take care of the kids while my husband is at work. My husband pretty much told me I had lost it. Of course I was going. Of course he’d figure out how to make his schedule work with the kids. And now I’m here, on this plane. Thanks honey!
I’ll be joined by a group of fellow O Magazine ambassadors some I’ve met and others that I’ll meet for the first time. I can’t even explain the collective excitement and sisterhood vibe that’s taken over our group chats! We’ll be attending a talk with Oprah and be among the few guests to witness her christening the ship. I’m not saying that I’m going to end up being BFF’s with Oprah and Gayle but I’m not saying I won’t be.
We’ll be sailing to Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas and living our best lives! For me, this will be the longest time I’ve ever been away from my kids. They weren’t super excited about me leaving. Honestly, I was sad about leaving my babies too. Still, I know I need this. I need to relax, relate, release (in my Whitley Gilbert) voice. Before I left my 6 year old daughter gave me some words of wisdom. Snuggled in her bed, she pulled me close and said “don’t get into any trouble while you’re gone. Don’t fight. If you have to thing, fight with your mind like Martin Luther King Jr.” I’m not sure what kinda mama she thinks she has but nonetheless we pinky promised that I’d be good.
While I’m gone, I’ll be modeling in a show for the new TalbotsxOmagazine collection. It’s new and will be available on the ship. You can find it in stores starting February 19th. This must have been so much fun Camesha. Being around a legend like Oprah; priceless. One travel blogging buddy of mine may have been on the cruise. A while back I spied a few pics of he and Oprah in a fabulous climate.
