“I’m going to hold on to my little boy as long as I can.”
Those are the words my husband uttered as he carried our four year old son upstairs to go to bed. It was in that moment that it hit me harder than ever that my little boy is growing up faster than I could have ever imagined. It was in that split second that I began to think of him beginning kindergarten and how time just seems like it will fly after that.
I began to think of the little boy that he is now and how he always reaches for my hand. I thought about how much he loves to climb in my lap. Since I’ve been wearing my hair in natural curls, he loves to touch them. He tells me how much he likes my curly hair. He tells me that he loves me more than any other mommy in the world. One day, he might not say all of these things, do all of these things, be this little boy. One day, he’ll be more interested in his friends, a girl, a car. One day, I might have to beg him to hang out with me.
Even though I know he will be a big boy. I know he will be a teenager. I know he will be a middle schooler and hit all of these stages that I can’t even imagine yet. I also know that he will always be my little boy. No matter how old he gets, how tall he gets (he’s nearly 4 feet now), I’ll see him as my baby. My first born. The one who made me a mommy. Yeah, he’ll always be that boy to me.
“I’m going to hold on to my little boy as long as I can.”
Babe, I’m holding on right along with you.
This is a very sweet post. It’s important to be able to cherish the moments while we are in them.

This is so sweet! I share many of those same sentiments and my son isn’t as old as yours! Don’t you wish that we had a pause button in life?

That’s exactly how I feel about Jas. I want her to stop growing up.
I have been feeling the exact same way lately! I do want him to be my little boy forever!
YES!! Kindergarten registration is next week and I feel like I’m drowning in it.
My little/big girl is going to be FIVE this summer.
Your son looks soooo much like you.

Mine’s not even here yet and I’m already feeling this way! After watchin my siblings grow up who are 8, 10 and 12 years younger than me (with my brother being the youngest) I really saw how boys can pull so far away from their moms more so than the girls. Definitely cherish those moments! Oh and your kids are SO your little mini-me’s – too too cute.

This made me tear up. I feel the same way about my daughter. If only we can hold on to them forever.
