There are some things I have noticed in my four years as a mama. I can’t help but wonder are these things “only in Los Angeles” type things or is this the norm in mommyhood?
**Story time at the library and Mommy and me classes are usually Nanny and Me
**You attend birthday parties for toddlers that likely cost more than your wedding
**The cost of your kids daycare just about equals your mortgage
**Your kids have “beach toys”
At least half of the moms at preschool drop off are rocking black lululemon yoga pants – whether or not they intend to work out
Your kid has tried sushi before their 4th birthday
**Snow is an odd concept to your kids
**When calling daycare (at 6 months pregnant) to get on the wait list you’re told that after telling your parents you were pregnant, they should have been the next call. They have no openings.
**These are true for me
So tell me, are these “only in LA”? What’s the mommyhood scene like where you live?
Beach toys were not unheard of since I lived on the coast myself in SC so I am use to that one but the other ones…..sushi before 4 and I am tired of the birthday parties I am only doing 3 this year for each child.

I think some of this should be for bougie parents or only area specific lol
We don’t own beach toys but Jas does have pool toys.
I’ve been to a few expensive bday parties but it was only because the parents were trying too hard lol
Daycare is expensive everywhere but I’ve never been on a waiting list (I’m sure this one had to do with area)
I’ve never even been to a farmers market lol.
I don’t know anyone who has a nanny.
So I don’t think it’s just LA since I live here too lol
Well. We have beach toys. But then, we like to go to the beach a lot.
Here, it’s not the nanny, but the sahm. It’s like a status symbol.
Daycare/kindergarten will be MORE than my mortgage
These folks spend a grip on birthday parties. But I wonder how many of those kids have college funds??
We have beach toys.
Daycares here CAN rival a mortgage payment.
We got RJ in his daycare just in time and they just happened to have a spot in the class he needed. There is a waiting list now, however and I will have to get a jump start with his kindergarten applications.
Big money birthday parties are a thing.

A lot of those apply to me as well. For my second baby I called the daycare before I even called the doctor. And yea, I”m the only one without a nanny to pick up the boys after school. Crazy times we live in.

Not here! In fact, I always joke that I want to write a “Real Housewives of Western Massachusetts” show in which all the ladies wear only organic clothing. They only use canvas shopping bags. And all of their “waste” items are biodegradable.
This is one of the greenest parts of the world, I’m sure!

Apart from the snow one these all apply to NYC as well! The major metros are really interesting places to live aren’t they? I still wouldn’t have it any other way!

The birthday parties are true everyone! The nanny and me reading time is hilarious!!!
We have beach toys too! I’m sure it’s not an LA things but a coastal thing. The daycare thing goes for me too. Again, I think that goes for an city with a high population of people. Both the waiting list and the cost- it’s ridiculous!
The snow thing is also not confined to LA- I recently talked to someone from Florida who has never seen snow… I don’t know why but it blew my mind.
Now playdates at Farmer’s Markets- seriously LA? You have got to have some parks around there somewhere, lol!

I think my daughter tried sushi before her 4th birthday–but then it wasn’t “real” sushi (cause I was not about to feed her raw fish).
Beach toys we bought her.
About the playdates in the Farmer’s market…now that has to be LA hahaha.
