Think back… way back to when you were younger. A nine year old child to be exact. What were your plans and past times? Did they include a mission to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation? Yeah, me neither. That’s exactly the goal of a nine-year old little girl by the name of Lizzie.
One of Lizzie’s hobby is origami and she’s decided to use her hobby for a cause. That’s where Cranes 4 a Cure was born. It is said that anyone who folds one thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish. Lizzie’s wish is for a cure for juvenile diabetes. How was this cause even brought to her attention? One of her siblings must be monitored for the disease and is so far in the clear. Her family, however, knows other children who suffer from the disease.
My goal is to raise $1,000.00. For every dollar I raise, I am going to make an origami crane and put the name of the person who sent me that dollar on the wing. Then I am going to string all the cranes together and give it to the juvenile diabetes foundation with all the money I raise.
Such a great cause and such a sweet little girl. Go here is you’d like to help. As of this writing, she’s raised $448!
Thank you for sharing! Lizzie has actually raised $665.00 for JDRF. The chip in is only showing the online donations. So proud of my girl!
