Recovery mode is in full effect. My parents were here for just over a week. We really enjoyed having them here. We talked back and forth about them moving here. They are interested, more than I expected. It would be awesome to have them here. They love the weather, the beach, and of course they love being so close to the grand kids and us.
The babies loved waking up and seeing grandma and grandpa every morning. My son took it hard when they left. He had been in the room talking to my dad and then he walked over to his room where I was getting his sister dressed. The minute I saw his face, I just threw my arms open and he fell inside. He was a ball of tears. It’s hard because he is older now and understands that they won’t be right back. My daughter had her own moment when we dropped my parents off at the airport. My parents told her goodbye and once they closed the door, I think it clicked for her. She lost it. She kept screaming “no bye bye!” She cried until she fell asleep. My poor babies. Heart.Breaking.
We were pretty busy while they were here. We spent our busiest day at the museum where the kids were able to paint in the art studio.
We headed over to some food trucks for lunch and then hit another museum and checked out the tar pits.
It was a busy day! It was so good for me to see my kids enjoying their grandma. My dad stayed behind to get a little rest.
For my dad, he had the best time at the beach. We went a couple of times and he just laid out in the sand, waded in the water and fully enjoyed himself. I love to see my parents happy and just enjoying life. It does my heart good.
I’d say the feeling is mutual.
Awww but they did have fun so I am happy for that. I love when grandparents live closer when my mom use to visit I would cry like a child when she left *sigh*

My daughter used to say “no bye bye” when my mom left. It’s so sad! My parents are four hours away by car. Better than the 3,000 miles it used to be!

I do hope they move out there!!! They would love it!
I always cry when my Dad leaves. From the time he gets here I start having anxiety because I know he will be leaving. I’m tearing up typing this. Those relationships they build are so precious and it is so hard to see your kids not have their grandparents around the corner like other children do.
