In the last few years I’ve been watching what Tory Burch has to offer. Everyone in the office seemed to be addicted to her popular flats for awhile. My conclusion: me likey the Tory Burch brand. It’s so clean and classic. She doesn’t go for the beat-you-over-the-head, over-the-top dramatics. I can appreciate at that. Her stuff is good for everyday. There are several drool worthy pieces in her current collection.

My budget hasn’t budged enough for me to make those purchases happen. In due time, right? If I just can’t wait and want something Tory-ish; I now have an option. Her ex-husband, Chris Burch is opening up shop in NYC and his stuff looks remarkably similar to those of his ex-wife’s. Coincidence? Likely not.

He has a lot of the same style sensibilities in his store with one major difference from Tory’s – the prices! Nothing in his store costs more than 300 dollars – nothing! A lovely dress from Tory could cost at least that much. It’s a little odd to me that he would so obviously make something in her style. I guess, if I think about it “her” style could have been something they created together when they were husband and wife. So his take might be “his” rightfully so. It just seems that he intended to throw a little jab by making the prices so much lower than hers. He is by far the more affordable Burch. All is fair in love and fashion, huh? What do you think the situation and what do you think of his store?

  1. I am completely in love with Tory…I think I’m going to be watching her ex-hubbs pretty carefully! Heck a pair of Reva flats will set you back 300 bucks! Great find, girl!

  2. I have not heard of his store, but the pieces look yummy. Unfortunately, if I paid 300 dollars for anything, let alone a dress, I’d probably be on my way to divorce and would have such buyer’s remorse I might check myself into a treatment facility.

  3. I am longing for a pair of her flats.

Now as far as her ex doing that. I would say a husband scorned. How wack is that, or you can look at it as imitation is the best form of flattery.

Hmmm…I wonder if his line is cheaper!

  4. Hmm. I’m thinking they collaborated on her designs together and when they parted ways he wanted to send a message! Ok. That’s my Lifetime Movie theory:)

I love all of Tory’s collections but my budget doesn’t allow for $300 dresses. A girl can only dream, right?
