When I was approached about checking out Mega Bloks, I was intrigued. Our son is a fan of Lego building blocks so I had no doubt that he’d love these as well. He was very excited the moment he saw the box.
I opted for the Mega Blok® Blok Squad Police Force set as my little guy is a big fan of police cars and service vehicles in general. When I opened the box I was shocked at how many pieces there were. These toys were far more detailed than I expected them to be. My son begged me to open them and then wouldn’t go to the dinner table to eat until I gave him one of the little men that come with the set to take with him. The nerve of that kid!
My first concern was how small the pieces are. My son is only two and we have a dog who likes to chew on everything. After checking out the box, I saw that the toy is for kids five and up. With that knowledge I hid the box from my son when he went to sleep and decided to build these vehicles on my own. At first, I was a bit overwhelmed. There are 391 pieces.
But the book that’s included breaks everything down into small do-able steps.
Once I got going it was fun to see what I could create. My husband commented on how cool the vehicles are. I think now that I’ve got them together, they’ll be a great toy for my son. I think he’d have to be supervised a bit though. Never know when he’ll decide a piece needs to be checked out for further inspection… in his mouth!
Overall, I think it’s a really cool toy. From building them to playing with them, these bloks could provide hours of fun for kids. The set I had is priced at 19.99. I think that’s a decent price for the nearly 400 pieces you’re getting.
Mega Blok® Blok Squad Building Sets are available in various themes including a fire station, construction and police and others that can all be combined and create and building community. Check out the Mega Bloks® website to view the entire selection. You can find Mega Bloks and Blok Squad building sets at Toys “R” Us, Walmart and Amazon.com.

Looks like so much fun. My son would love it, we have been building a few things and had fun doing it. My son will be 5 soon and does well…..I wouldn’t do it with a 2 year old, the pieces are tiny and their hands are quick!!
Great review!

I’m really surprised at how detailed the models are from the kit. I like those a lot. Now you can put it away and bring it out in a few years when he’s a little more able to handle those small pieces!
