I don’t know if you remember. Not too long ago I talked about my getting back to reading. My son and his total love of reading has been a huge inspiration for me. I used to tear through book after book just like he does and I totally fell off for a bit. Then I started reading my magazines again and worked my way back up to my books.
When I tell you I’ve been binging… I have got my reading groove back and I couldn’t be happier about it. For the longest I thought I didn’t have time to read. I get so busy with kids, life, and blogging. It seemed impossible to squeeze in time to dive into a book. I really think starting with working magazines back into the mix helped. It got my kids used to me taking time to read and since I was reading magazines, I wasn’t really that committed to what I was reading. If I got distracted, it wasn’t a big deal.
Books I’m Reading…
By the time I was into my books again, it was smooth sailing. So, what have I been reading? I’m glad you asked. It am really into personal development and tend to gravitate to anything that will help me to be me 2.0. One of those books is Girl Code : Unlocking the secrets to success sanity and happiness. I seem to like anything from Cara Alwill Leyba. She’s very straight forward and always gives lots of examples of people to use as inspiration. Girl Code definitely delivered on that front.
Another book I finished recently is She Means Business :Turn Your Ideas into reality and become a wildly successful entrepreneur. As a woman building a business, I really dig through anything that offers insight on making this business thing work. There’s lots of tips and also an online component to help keep you accountable.
A friend of mine released a book recently. This one was a must read for me. I remember when she was just tossing around the idea of writing a book. Amber Wright’s Can We Talk: 10 life lessons on finding your voice and yourself was such a good, quick read. It’s very transparent and offers insight on navigating life as a young person.
Fearless and Fabulous: 10 Powerful Strategies for Getting Anything You Want in Life is another good read by Cara. She’s like a life coach with a glass of your favorite bubbly. When I saw the title, I was sold! Isn’t that the dream?
As you can see, I’ve been loading up on business building books as well as personal development stuff. I think I’m going to take a break and find some good old romance novel or something to read just for fun. Any suggestions? Do you make time to dig into a good book?
