Baby number two has been here nearly a year and it’s time for this mama to start getting back to me. I have lost all the baby weight for the most part. Like most mamas, I still gotta work on my tummy. So, I’ve been taking action.
I have been getting back to my eating habits before I was eating for two. For me, that means packing lots of goodies to take to work. I stock up my cabinets at work with oatmeal for breakfast, I bring yogurt to go with it. I keep trail mix, granola bars and cereal bars for snacking. I also have been packing my lunch again. I’m a girl who likes routine, so salads for lunch work for me on the daily.
The next part of my plan is to work out.
I haven’t worked out since I was about four months pregnant with baby girl. At that point the doctor asked me to stop because it was dangerous for her with how she was positioned. So, I’ve got to take my time now getting back into shape. I can’t just jump into some hard core routine and think I’m going to be able to hang. I really want to though. I really want to be able to pick up where my formerly fit self left off. I’m terrified to find out how weak I really am now.
I belong to the gym at my job and we get a session with a personal trainer and a free pilates class every six months. I’m about to cash that in and get on about the business of getting mamas groove back.
How did you get your groove back/get back in pre-baby shape? Are you making any fitness goals for summer?
I’ve been running. I know most people don’t like to run I actually love it. Something about it motivates me. I run without music and it’s like I can think and just be.
I am training for a half marathon so I am planning to start incorporating in some strength, hill and speed training in the next few weeks. I just wanted my body to get back in the groove.

I took a pill to get my pre baby weight back, but for you doing it healthy, how about walking? It’s easy because the kids can be out with you in stroller or their riding toys?

After my second baby, I had this ONE workout from SELF magazine that I did RELIGIOUSLY. It was one of their Drop 10 workouts. I did it with fierce for about 6 weeks and after that, I was probably in better shape than before baby was born! All it takes was motivation!

I’m running again. It’s the only thing that works quickly and effectively for me!
Oh I am so in your boat! I am pretty petite, but there’s that extra 5-10 pounds around my middle. With my daughter it hung on until about a week after I stopped nursing and then melted away. This time around, I am not optimistic it will be as easy. What the heck makes that belly go away!?

Let’s see my youngest is 4 so yeah its been 4 years and my body is not and probably will not be the same anymore. I blame the cookies…I have started to eat better though cutting out pasta and drinking more water but the exercise is a huge problem for me.

Hey Cam! This is so timely. I just started trying to get my booty back in shape for summer a few weeks ago. So this is what I’m doing – Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 DVD twice a week, weight lifting once a week and yoga once a week. Plus I’ve been eating healthier and keeping my calories to 1600 a day. On the weekends, I get to splurge and have Mexican food and a glass of wine. That’s something to look forward to! Oh and here’s the kicker. I’m taking a pic of myself in my bikini every Friday to track my results. How’s that for accountability? It definitely keeps me on track! Good luck, just start out with small changes every day, add a new one each day. It will come off! Trust me, I lost 40 lbs. after my second child. 🙂
