From the minute this box showed up, my son just knew it was something for him. Who cares that MY name was on it.
After relentless begging, we finally opened the box. Two words describe what happened next: Instant Obsession!
I am pretty sure he’d never heard of the Octonauts before – that didn’t matter. He was totally sucked in and wanted to open each box. Since it was time to get ready for bed, we let him open one. It was this compass.
With the push of a button, it takes you on adventures with the Octonauts. He played with it as he got ready for bed and then wanted to sleep with it. The next day he took it to school for show and share.
He opened the other boxes that weekend so he had the while day to play and explore. He was glued to it all. The Gup C Playset was the first thing he clung to. The Octo-Pod was next. It’s the only thing that could pull him away from the Octo-Compass. When it was time for lunch, he carried characters to the table. When it was time for bed he wanted to take them with him.
We found out the Octonauts are a team of underwater creatures who go on lots of adventures to expolore, rescue and protect! The show comes on Disney Junior. Overall, I like the Octonauts. My son is at an age where adventure is literally his favorite word. These tots totally feed into that by verbally taking you on the adventures. Many of the toys “talk” and explain various scenarios. It’s pretty cool. They certainly have been keeping my three year old busy.
Is anyone in your house an Octonauts fan?

My kids haven’t discovered it yet, but the boy I used to babysit for was obsessed. And I could see why!

We’ve never watched it, but we keep hearing about it. I would like to transition him back to things that are more his age (he’s 3 and currently obsessed w/older shows like The Power Rangers and Danny Phantom and 70s SpiderMan (the hell?)).

Your son is too cute! Madison watches it, cute show. I’m sure if she got a box full of Octonauts goodies she’d react the same way.
