Last week, my buddy Amber from The Yeyo Diaries had a post about tips to keep marriages strong. One very unique tip involved toothpaste. I read something recently and now I have one more tip to add to her list.
Well it’s not exactly my tip. I saw the post over on Babble. This couple says one of the secrets to their happy marriage is all about the clothes.
They have been dressing alike for the last 30 years of their 64 year marriage! Yes, you read that right. They rock it twins style. To keep up their “look”, they get their clothes custom made and choose their outfits together each morning.
I can’t EVEN imagine. First, I would think it was odd to be matching my husband every.single.day. I know that when you’re married that you become one, but this is a whole other level for me. Second, I think my husband would look at me crazy for even suggesting the idea. Honestly, there have been days that we accidentally rocked the same color scheme. For pictures, we try to have our outfits make sense together. Still, all out matching would be a bit much for us.
For them, I think it’s cute. I think this idea only works and is only cute when you’re older though.
What do you think? Would you dress like your significant other … DAILY?

Um, no. š My husband and I accidentally packed a matching outfit on our honeymoon — and since it was the very last outfit we both had, we had to wear it. And we even have a picture from that day. (To date, I think it’s the lamest picture of us! Haha! š
But I think it’s really cute that this couple does it! Do whatever works for your marriage. For us, it’s just having fun (laughing, joking, wrestling, etc.). We have a lot of fun together, and that makes all the difference.
The couples are really have a strong marriage. They know what are the right things to do to make their relationships deeper and meaningful.Dressing the same every morning is very unique and it makes both couples understand each other. It is really awesome way to make your relationship stronger.

Thanks for the shout out! I believe in “color coordination” but I don’t know about all out matching, and certainly not everyday!!! But, it’s got to mean something if they’ve been together that long. So cute!

Yea no! We may coordinate color scheme for a wedding maybe but no way we’re dressing alike. I think it’s cute for the older couple though!

When my husband and I were on our honeymoon we met an elderly couple named “Babs” and Mike – they had matching t-shirts (with their names embroidered on the back) for each day of the cruise. They were such a cute couple, extremely outgoing, and I have to admit I was grateful they had their matching neon shirts on each day – we’d spot them all over the various islands and always said hello. Without the shirts we may never have noticed them. Still, I don’t think it is a look the hubs and I will be rockin any time soon š

OH gosh, I agree. There’s a definite age involved when this is ok, and I’m pretty sure I’m nowhere near that threshold yet. Thankfully.
I don’t think i would dress like my hubby daily BUT i loved their message of doing something together everyday!!

you can only get away with this if you’re mature..ya know, elderly like this little couple. that’s the only time it’s cute (except for those hideous family reunion tees where everybody is dressed alike!).

We coordinate or I should say that I coordinate our clothes for special events so we don’t clash…but I cannot imagine matching all the time!!!

No no no!!! I don’t even believe in accidentally coordinating!!!!!!
Ummm…..no ma’am. I would have to force myself to even coordinate colors for events and pictures. The fashions I choose are a reflection of my personal style, so when I have to alter it, I don’t feel good about it at all. But hey, happy it works for them!

My husband doesn’t even like it when I buy him clothes, I can even imagine if I bought him something that matched!

I agree with you! We try to have the same color scheme for holidays, pictures… but other than that… NO BUENO! When I was growing up, couples used to dress alike when the went to six flags, why? I don’t know! But kudos to this couple, whatever works right?

This couple is cute, but Mr. C would ask me have I lost my mind to do this. We try to have our outfits make sense together like you said, but nope, I will not be wearing what he’s wearing, and have him do the same.

Oh, so THIS is why I’m not married?! *Wink* I don’t think I would ever want to match with my significant other every single day! A bit excessive, don’t ya think?!

Hmm. Could it imagine wearing the same thing as my spouse daily? Hmm. Not. At. All. That would seriously be scary.
Lol! This is funny…
