Today many people are leaving one item on their bucket list unfulfilled. They will never be in the audience of the Oprah Winfrey Show. Many have their issues with her… I am not one of them. Today marks the final day of the iconic Oprah Winfrey Show. I say iconic because, like it or lump it, her show has made a huge imprint on the world! That’s saying a lot for a talk show but it’s true. Everyone in the world knows the Oprah Winfrey show. I, for one, have been and continue to be inspired by Oprah. My reasons are simple. She came from absolutely nothing! The odds were more than against her and somehow she’s become “Oprah”. When you are a chocolate girl from a small town in Mississippi born in the 50’s – achieving any modicum of success can be a bleak goal at best. To be molested repeatedly and raped at all is beyond anything I can imagine. To have that happen before you’re even 16 years old has the capacity to stunt your growth in more ways than one.

Many detractors say that she’s all about self-promotion and all about herself, therefore, unlikable. While I disagree, I think self-promotion is a trait of any mogul. Donald Trump anyone? That aside, I think her journey has been nothing short of remarkable. There remain some things that can’t be argued. This woman is self-made. There were no silver spoons, she was not born into money. For me, even with all of her success there is something about her that still seems real. The face of daytime television is continually changing. From the removal of soap operas and now the end of the Oprah show. Many talk shows have come and gone in the 25 years she’s spent on the air. None have entertained and educated quite like Oprah. None have made the same impact. With the end of her show there will be a hole left that I’m hopeful will be filled on some level. Maybe Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show will aim to fill that void. Here’s hoping. To Oprah and her team I say thanks for an awesome and inspiring 25 years!

  1. She has definitely made an impact…if it’s on The Oprah Show you better believe people will go out and get that item if it’s got the Oprah stamp of approval! That’s a great pic that you posted of her BTW.

  2. I think I am the only person who really doesn’t care about this. I’ve never really been a fan of her show, so now that it’s going off the air, it doesn’t really impact me. Not that I don’t like her, I just have never been interested in her show.
