Do you have a list? I have a list of 40 things I want to do before I turn the big FOUR OH. I’ve been slowly checking things off the list. I still have lots to do though. Oh well, I still have a couple years to pull this off! Mostly my list is made up of things I want to do and experiences I want to have with my family.
The thing about having small kids is that my progress on my list has slowed down a bit. My attention has obviously been mostly focused on them. The other thing about having young children is that we are putting effort into making sure they learn new things. There is so much for them to learn because for the most part, they are new here! In our efforts to have them learn new things, we’ve signed them up for art and swim classes and stuff like that. All of this learning has me thinking of things I’d like to learn.
Here’s a short list of things I’d like to learn:
How to make jewelry – There were a few ladies that I worked with who make jewelry. I loved the detail and I love the idea of handcrafting something. I have jewelry making on my list of things to do.
Swim – I need to learn to swim ASAP. I had signed my kids up for classes this summer. My intention is to be the next in line for taking classes around here. Wanna know why I don’t know how to swim yet? Check out the trauma here.
Be a Pilates Instructor – I love Pilates! I took weekly classes before and throughout my first pregnancy. It was amazing. I still do Pilates about once a week. I have thought for years that one day I’d like to teach Pilates. Yeah, add that to my list too.
Sew – When I was growing up, sewing was a grandma thing. It’s changed over the years. There are so many bloggers making it trendy and fun! I have wanted to learn to sew for a while. I’d love to be able to make myself something that is actually wearable. That is a goal!
Play piano – I am 6’1″ and I have the long limbs that goes along with that height. My digits are included. I have pretty long fingers and I’ve always wanted to put them to use playing the piano. Maybe when life slows down a bit, I can squeeze that in.
Publish a novel – It’s the writer in me. I’ve spent my whole career writing. It’s all I’ve ever done consistently since I was a little girl. I have already had a book of poetry published. My next goal is to write a novel. I think I want to base it on my experience in the entertainment industry. There’s plenty of stuff to pull from there! Next up though, my mom and I are working on a children’s book.
What’s still on your list of things to learn?
I really want to learn how to sew too. I have so many projects but no skills 🙁
This is a really great list. I took a small metals class in college that went hand in hand with jewelry making and it was so much fun! I was horrible at designing things according to my professor but it was still neat to learn how to use the tools.

You NEED to learn how to swim!! I wish I could play the piano and write novel as well. I have the first 4 pages written in a draft on my desktop! I just need to go for it!
Before I turn 40, I want to:
Have children
Travel more
Take more Yoga classes (I’ve never been to a Pilates Class, I’m wondering how different it is?)
I loved playing the piano and violin as a kid – I remember it so clearly. But I ended up quitting, and I’m not sure why..

I like your list! I used to play the piano when I was a kid. My dream is to publish a novel too! I need to make an organized list of ‘life to-dos’. I’ll be the big 3-0 next month, and I don’t have time to do a 30 before 30, but my hubby and I have a shared list of things we want to accomplish together.
Hugs,

Write a book! Such a daunting task, but it’s on my list, too. Right now with two under two it’s on hold, but when I get a free hour I try to get in a few pages, otherwise I’ll always be making an excuse to put it off. That’s awesome you have a collection of poems published! Good luck 🙂
