My weekends have become pretty predictable. Well, at least a little. Our weekends revolve around our son’s social calendar. Every weekend he’s got a birthday party to go to. Usually, my husband is his partner in party crime. I’m always running behind trying to get myself and the little princess ready so we don’t make the party scene often. We did make it to a party this weekend though. It was an afternoon party. It takes us that much time for us all to get ready to leave together. Crazy!
Here’s what I’ve learned about my son. The kid isn’t a fan of structure. He’s kind of a “you’re not the boss of me” kind of kid. I knew this but it was more obvious at the par-tay. I don’t know if it’s his age or the fact that he was two hours past his nap time. Then again, it could have been all of the above. The perfect storm!!!
The party was held at My Gym. My son’s least favorite activity was when he was asked to do something in a group. He much preferred free play. He would go along with the instructions but it was clear to me that he’d rather do his own thing. My husband’s take on the whole situation is that he gets that from me! At first, I was all offended. The nerve!! Then, I thought about it. I do have a little bit of an entrepreneurial spirit in me. Maybe that’s what we’re seeing in our son – already. A budding businessman? In that case, that’s right baby, show them who’s boss! I will say, the minute we left he passed out in the car. I’m willing to bet that whole missed nap thing has something to do with his uh, sensitive behavior.
This was too funny. He’ll make an awesome businessman I’m sure! We don’t make it to parties very often – they always seem to fall during nap time – and no one wants to see my kids sans nap!

LOL. Pookah can be the same way. He will play with others, but is quick to go out on his own if he gets bored. And if it’s near nap time, forget it. It’s all on his own

a missed nap can make a toddler go CRAY!
Girl, get used to it! My son (7) told me his sister (4) is more popular than him! SMH!! What does he know about being popular!

when the baby gets older it will take even longer to get everyone ready and out the house I have to start almost 2 hrs early for that hair alone.

I think that independent play is important. My son was the same way and it worried me but his teacher said this is actually a very good trait in children as long as they can also be social. I kind of see it now. I don’t want my kid to always be the follower and hanging with the crew. He needs to know early that its okay to function on his own.
However, behavior with no nap can get real suspect. Lil Mama is a fool when she doesn’t nap. Just ugly and moody!
