The other weekend was summer weather at it’s best. We had planned a fun day at the beach with friends and their daughter. Setting up a time to head out to the beach was the challenge. If we went before nap time, then we’d really need to hurry and be super mindful of the clock. We decided to go after nap time. Of course, our kids let us know that they didn’t care about no stinking schedule.
Both kids finally went down for their naps later than usual. You know what that means? Both kids slept FOREVER! They didn’t wake up until much later in the afternoon. As a result our day of fun in the sun day at the beach, turned into this:
Yes, the 80 degree day turned into 60 degrees and we were on the beach wrapped in blankets! HA! It was still fun. The kids didn’t seem to care so much that it was getting chilly. They were still running around and playing. They also got to see dolphins! My son was still talking about that days later.
I’m guessing next time, we’ll take our chances with a day time run to the beach.
Whenever I try to plan things around her nap time, it never worked out. She either never went down or went down and stayed down.
I don’t blame you for taking your chances next time. As for the kids, if it’s a day out playing, they don’t care if its a blizzard out there, they’ll have fun. Us on the other hand will be cold.

LOLOL at “we we’re at the beach wrapped in blankets.” Well at least you got a good memory out of it.

Isn’t it amazing how kids just don’t care? They can play in the rain, jump around in the freezing snow, and even stand to swim in cold water. They know how to make a fun time out of anything.

I always go back and forth on the “planning around nap time” thing. For my kids, it seems to work to pack them up for an excursion just before nap time, let them sleep on the drive there and then play, play, play. That has worked for us but I know it doesn’t work for all kids.

But memories were made nonetheless, and isn’t that the best part?
Ha, I know this story..the beach can get so cool towards the afternoon…I live at the shore..so this happens frequently…I know to bring the blankets lol.
Glad you had a great day with friends regardless of the 60 degrees!
Hope you are well.

Looks like an awesome time at the beach…sometimes the weather can turn but looks like you made the most of it:-)
lord this cali weather has not been great. I don’t know whats going on. Jas and I went to the park the other weekend and it was supposed to be 80 out. It was more like 60( this was probably the same weekend) and she had on a cute little romper. IT was breezy but she wore it anyway lol.
You guys look snuggly lol
I totally understand. Any proposed time for a family outing will likely be delayed an hour or two if you’re able to make it quick 😛 Plus, it’s always a gamble with weather at the beach. I hope you all had fun at least!

Too cute!
It’s funny cause when we were living in the north 60 degrees we would have been wearing shorts and definitely no coat. lol
I love that you made the most of it!
I hope you can update your blog and for sure, we will be happy to read it. Thanks that you shared.I love this link up; it’s always so much fun, so thanks for hosting!

I guess that is what we call the priorities of kids that we sometimes forget.

I remember so many summer days when it was cold and my siblings and I would STILL want to go in the pool. It wouldn’t bother us at all. Now…I’d be huddled in a corner with a blanket.

I hate trying to plan things around Pookahs nap time. It’s a one! SMH. cuts the say right in half. So lately, I’ve just been pushing it. And he’s been OK.
